Ondřej Jezek, a native of Brno and the sole Czech rider in the World Superbike Championship, completed a positive warm up and eighteenth place during the weekend’s second race .
The afternnon event, however, saw Ondra cross the finish line in eighteenth. “During the race the track was much hotter, badly effecting grip, so I was worse off than in the morning. I’m sorry I couldn’t keep in touch with the guys ahead of me. In these conditions, its the riders with the more powerful machines that are at the top and that, unfortunately, does not include me this year. ” summed up the local rider’s feelings after the event. At the same time, Ondřej thanked the local crowd for their encouraging support and feedback.
“Big thanks to everyone who came to the circuit and created such a great atmosphere, especially in the paddock and tribune in sector C. I can’t find such followers anywhere else in the world. I appreciate the support and encouragement from the fans I met in Brno. They genuinely help me to keep my appetite and motivation to keep going. Even though I have failed to gain points in Brno, it is not the end of the series and we will fight on”.
The next Superbike outing is from June 22-24 at Califonia’s Laguna Seca circuit in the USA. Ondra leaves on Satrday to get acclimatized for the next round of racing. “Now I’ll have a few days to relax at home before leaving for America. I plan to go through the Grand Canyon as part of the preparatory training as well as taking in a visit to Las Vegas! “.
